The Value of Our Weekly Reflections
Each week we publish on the parish website, and hand out at church, a reflection that has been written by one of St Pius X’s parishioners. We now have an extensive archive of reflections, covering a wide range of topics.
Reflections for the current liturgical year, for instance, emphasise core Christian duties (like the supreme importance of the “Our Father” and a call to unconditional forgiveness, even of enemies) while also providing historical context through the lives of figures like Pope Leo the Great and St. John Kemble, and detailed analysis of complex ancient topics like Jewish-Gentile relations in the time of Jesus.
Where to Find Them
The reflections for the relevant week can be found in two places:
- As part of the weekly newsletter
- On the relevant reflections page on the website (currently Cycle C 2024-25).
We will shortly begin a new liturgical calendar and reflections are already available for the beginning of the new cycle, Cycle A, if you would like to read ahead. You might also like to remind yourselves of previous reflections to inform and enrich your Catholic faith.
An Extraordinary Resource
We are very grateful for the small, dedicated group of parishioners who give their time to research and write the reflections. It is rare for a small parish to have such a deeply researched resource that covers both core theological duties and complex historical and moral contexts.
Volunteer Needed: Reflections Editor
In order to continue this service, a volunteer is sought to take over the editing and printing of the Weekly Reflections from early 2026 onwards.
This manageable role involves:
- Liaising with the writing team
- Simple formatting and proof-reading
- Printing the reflections and delivering them to church prior to Sunday Mass.
This is not a particularly time-consuming task by any means, and it has the added benefit of bringing you into regular contact with our committed writing team.
Please contact Rachel on contact@musiclessonscheshire.co.uk if you are able to assist.
